Job Description:Drives all aspects of IT Project, Program and Portfolio activity, including collaborating and coordinating across all IT and business segments. Defines project value proposition, scope, work plan, resource needs, timeline and budget for IT projects. Manages resources (i.e., capital requirements and human capital, etc.) to complete project/ program on time and within budget. Keeps team and leadership updated on project status and risk factors. Ensures adherence to quality standards and reviews project deliverables. Provides technical and process guidance to project team. Principal Accountabilities Drives the development and execution of project plan by working with project team to define, sequence, and estimate duration of activities and determine schedules to meet project objectives. Ensures consistency and adherence to Dell standards, processes, and policies for all projects. Manages all aspects of the project execution including: chartering, scope definition, requirements gathering, project planning, change control, risk management and reporting. Facilitates and manages resource planning, cost estimation, budget development, and cost control. Manages the identification, resolution and escalation of project risks and issues. Tracks project budget and resource utilization against plan. Plans and executes project communications ensuring timely and accurate distribution of information, documentation, and issue resolution to all appropriate team members. May be responsible for multiple Project Managers dedicated to a common project or fewer large/ highly complex customer Projects/ Deliverables. Knowledge Expanding knowledge of related disciplinary areas. Broad knowledge within own specialty discipline. - Deep specialized knowledge in specific aspects of discipline. - Enhances own knowledge through understanding business trends and objectives. - Understands and foresees implications of decisions. Knowledge of industry and business principles. - Understands the core business process and purpose of the functional area. - Places issues in context of organizational and functional objectives. In-depth customer knowledge to provide appropriate solutions. Develops and applies project management techniques. Problem Solving Applies analytical skills to evaluate and interpret complex situations/ problems using multiple sources of information. - Qualitative information - Quantitative research - Trend data Presents problem analysis and recommended solutions in a creative and logical manner. - Forecasts, models, and utilizes advanced analytical tools. - Creates new procedures and processes to drive desired results. Handles diverse range of issues that require evaluation of a variety of factors including current business trends. - Develops skills to analyze ambiguous problems. Identifies opportunities for process and procedure enhancements to drive efficiency and customer service levels. Guidance Works with minimal direction. Work is guided by operational and project objectives. - Manages multiple assignments and processes. - Independently determines approach to project. - Anticipates and prevents potential problems. Independently develops solutions that are thorough, practical, and consistent with functional or customer objectives. May be responsible for specific programs, customers and/ or projects. May provide technical guidance or influence the work of others. Updates leadership on project/ activity status. Relationships Contributes to area by ensuring quality of tasks/ services provided by self and others. Extends capabilities by working closely with senior staff/ experts within and outside the internal organization. Provides process and policy advice. - Explains assumptions and methodologies. - Articulates pros and cons of an action in a clear manner. - Simplifies difficult concepts for non-technical users. Regularly interacts with colleagues or customers generally up to senior level leadership. Manages less complex single project, or module of larger project, typically in single functional area. Assists with implementing process improvements. Provides input into evaluation of project team members. Works under specific direction of other Project Managers, IT Managers or Program Managers. Interacts with internal customers (i.e., Product Managers, Project Managers, and Business Analysts, etc.). Experience 8-10 years of relevant experience or equivalent combination of education and work experience. Skills Good understanding of IT Project Management principles and techniques. Ability to manage change and engage team members. Ability to provide direction and leadership to others. Strong facilitation and communication skill
